ADT Wireless
ADT Wireless is a division of ADT Security, based in Sydney. It operates Australia's
only Public Mobitex Wireless Data Network. ADT Wireless was formed in 2002 when
ADT acquired United Wireless (UW) from DotWAP Pty Ltd. United Wireless had operated
the Mobitex network in Australia since early 1993. ADT Wireless is a subsidiary
of Tyco International and operates on the 405 MHz frequency band. The network, which covers
70% of the population, provides coverage to most mainland cities (excluding
Darwin) with its main focus being on the East Coast. They concentrate on targeted
vertical markets. Currently ADT supports a diverse range of clients and applications,
including the Australia wide operations of FEDEX, The Public Transport Corporation
of Victoria and the Fire Monitoring activities of ADT - including Wormald and
Fire Control in NSW and Victoria.
